FAQ’s

Acupuncture needles are very fine, not thick like needles used in a medical setting. The sensation that is expected is not painful, but can be described as a heavy, numb, dull achy or tingly feeling called “De Qi”. This is the goal with acupuncture, as it means the energy of the point is being accessed. Many people find it is actually quite relaxing and often fall into a deep acu-nap.
If there is anxiety or nervousness about needles, please let us know — a very gentle treatment will be done with that in mind.

This varies greatly depending on the individual and the issue being treated. Acute concerns are normally corrected quite quickly (1-3 treatments) while more chronic issues can take longer. Your unique treatment plan will be discussed during your first visit.

Yes! Acupuncture is a great addition to any pre/post pregnancy plan. Certain points and modalities will be avoided as a precaution, but other than that, pregnancy is a great time to get acupuncture as it can help with nausea, fatigue, back pain, mood, and much more.
Acupuncture for Cervical Ripening (the process of softening the cervix and preparing the body for labour) can be started as early as 35 weeks. Weekly treatments are recommended until labour begins.

Similar to a deep tissue massage, the more tightness and knotting in the muscles, the more discomfort felt; however, cupping is not painful and most find it extremely relaxing.

Cupping is optional and is only done in treatments where it is required or requested.
Cupping marks are a normal part of the treatment. The colour and longevity of the marks will depend on what is going on in each individual’s body. As more cupping is done and stagnation begins to decrease, cupping marks will lighten up and go away more quickly.
